As many of you who are familiar with Exeter will know, the city will shortly be gaining a brand new dining quarter. Situated in the Guildhall Shopping Centre, Queen St. Dining will be opening later this summer.
The restaurants that make up Queen St. Dining are Absurd Bird, Comptoir Libanais, The Stable, Gourmet Burger Kitchen, The Terrace, Grillstock and KuPP and the one I’m most looking forward to, Turtle Bay.
A Caribbean restaurant and bar, Turtle Bay is sure to bring a touch of tropical sunlight to the city along with rum and reggae! This is the first Turtle Bay restaurant in Devon and it is the first restaurant to announce its opening date – 23rd August 2016.
The restaurant is going to be a beach-shack-inspired ray of sunshine. As well as the ‘island hut’ bar, there’s going to be special veranda dining areas, plus an open ‘street kitchen’.
Promising fuss-free soul food, guests are expected to taste dishes full of zesty flavours and spicy hues. The offering includes ‘Cutters’ (inspired by Beach Shacks and Street Hawkers of the Caribbean Islands ); the Jerk BBQ Pitt; ‘One Pots’ (rich, slowly simmered and uniquely Caribbean) and Lunch and Light (a briefer encounter with the Caribbean). Signature dishes include their famous Jerk Chicken and Curry Goat.
I’ll ensure to keep you all up-to-date with Queen St. Dining news as we get closer to the launch. Restaurants are expected to be opening at staggered dates but all around a similar time.
I for one cannot wait to try the cuisine of the Caribbean. I’m also looking forward to the Terrace. It’s great that we are finally getting a decent rooftop bar in Exeter! Which restaurant are you looking forward to trying? Tweet me @SheWhoLives1 as I would love to hear from you!
