I hope you all had a fabulous Easter weekend! Here in Devon we had amazing weather with the sun shining constantly and for the first time this year, I actually felt warm!
Lots of chocolate has been consumed in this household but I don’t feel guilty at all because you know…it’s Easter! It’s the only time of year where vast amounts of Easter eggs, Cadbury cream eggs and mini eggs are available so that’s a good enough excuse for me. This year, I was treated to a scrummy Lindt Lindor chocolate egg which I am still munching my way through.
However, despite eating loads of chocolate, we made sure that we kept up the exercise. Over the weekend we visited National Trust’s Lydford Gorge. I have been here once before a couple of years ago but it is a truly beautiful place and I couldn’t resist having another visit.
Situated in Dartmoor, it is the deepest gorge in the South West and features an amazing 30m waterfall. I love visiting the gorge because it’s just so pretty. There is green forestry everywhere and wild garlic grows all around which gives the air an amazing aroma. It reminds me of an enchanted forest and it wouldn’t surprise me one bit if a little elf or a unicorn casually strolled across the path! The walk itself gets your heart pumping and the varied terrain makes for a fun ramble. What’s even better is that dog’s are welcome so our West Highland Terrier Freddy can join in too.
Easter Monday presented such wonderful sunshine that it would have been criminal not to venture outside again! This time, we did a coastal walk around Sidmouth which I have also done a couple of times before. However, to shake it up a bit, we did the walk in reverse. This is a great walk because it is quite varied. At the beginning, you have to do a lot of walking uphill to get to the top of the cliff which is great exercise and definitely worth it when you see the stunning view. I think I definitely take living near the coast for granted sometimes!
