When I hear people say that they don’t “do” social media, it never fails to baffle me. Being part of a generation that has grown up with the founding and development of social media, I really do live my life on it. I log in to my accounts all day to get the latest news headlines, celebrity gossip, industry news, communicate with friends and family and even to shop.

Just the other evening, I was sat on my sofa scrolling through my Facebook news feed when I came across an ad for Bohomoon – an online store who sell beautiful bohemian jewelry.

Their high quality imagery caught my eye and resulted in me clicking through to the website and making a purchase. It was a very impromptu purchase and I would have never even considered buying a new piece of jewelry if I didn’t happen to come across their ad on Facebook.

What fascinated me is that as soon as I had made my purchase, they confirmed my order through Facebook Messanger. I’ve never seen a company do that before but what a clever idea! I was obviously logged on to Facebook having made my purchase through the platform so I would instantly receive the confirmation. This saved me time logging on to my email account and reading the confirmation that way. I thought it was an extremely nice touch.

new ringWhat’s more, they invite you to reply to the message if you have any questions about your order or if you want an update on the delivery status. Facebook Messenger is an extremely quick and easy way for you to do this.

This just shows you the absolute power of social media. It’s not just a tool to communicate with friends who you don’t see or to post pictures of funny cats. It has the potential to introduce you to new clients, people who have never heard of you before. You have access to the world – literally.

By exploring social media ad options, you can reach your target audience much more effectively than traditional marketing methods. Facebook in particular allows you to get incredibly specific when targeting specific people. This will ensure that you get in front of the people that you want as your customers, even when they aren’t expecting it!
