What Have I Been Watching: July-August

coffee and laptop on bed

Hey guys! If you didn’t read my first post in this series, go ahead and watch it here. For those of you who did, I hope you liked it! If you went and watched any of the shows that I suggested, please leave a comment as I would love to know your thoughts. So, what have I been watching this summer?

Pretty Little Liars, Netflix

Having watched this American thriller series from the beginning, I couldn’t wait to watch the finale. Briefly, for those who aren’t familiar, Pretty Little Liars tells the story of a group of best friends who constantly seem to get themselves into trouble whilst being stalked by a psycho known as A / A.D. I watched the first half of season 7 quite sporadically and by the time the second half was released on Netflix, I had completely forgotten what had happened. So, I decided to just watch it from the beginning of the series. I’m glad I did as I followed the storyline much better than when I was only watching one episode a week. Pretty Little Liars never fails to keep me on my toes and this season didn’t disappoint. With a thirst to find out who A.D was, I found myself just starting to binge watch episodes. It drove me crazy that my friends who had already watched the finale knew who Charlotte’s killer was and knew who was torturing the girls so I wanted to hurry up and find out too! I won’t give away any spoilers but I found the ending very good however a little ridiculous. I would never have guessed who A.D was and the twist was amazing but I couldn’t help feeling a little disappointed that it wasn’t more of a major character. I’m so sad that it’s completely finished now; I might have to start from season 1 and watch the whole lot all over again!

Life of Kylie, E!

Kylie Jenner is by far my favourite Kardashian. In my opinion, both Kendall and Kylie are visibly working hard to carve their own careers to try and move away from just ‘being famous for being famous’. I’ve never really followed Keeping up with the Kardashians as I can’t stand Kim so when I heard that Kylie was bringing out her own show, I definitely planned to watch. So far, I think it’s great. Life of Kylie gives us quite an unfiltered look at what it’s like to be Kylie Jenner. We’ve seen her talk honestly about fame, how she struggles with everyday celebrity, wishing to have a taste of what it’s like to just be a normal teenager. She made a teenagers dream come true when she agreed to be his prom date. It of course turned a normal high school prom into an absolute circus! I also loved how we got to see her visiting the Kylie Cosmetics factory – she seems to really have a passion for her business and is extremely involved in all the major decisions. The one thing that irritates me slightly is how she keeps moaning about her fame. I get that it would be incredibly tough, particularly as she’s only 20, however she’s getting paid millions!

Trust Me, BBC One

So I haven’t been watching this one live on TV, instead I waited for every episode to be available on iplayer and then watched it all at once. I prefer doing that with gritty dramas as I find I get into the programme more if I can watch episode after episode rather than waiting for a whole week to find out what happens next! Trust Me tells the story of Cath Hardacre, a nurse who takes on the identity of a Doctor after she loses her job. Teaching herself the skills to appear as a convincing Doctor, she starts a new life at a hospital in Edinburgh. What follows is a gripping drama that had me sat on the edge of my seat. Each episode, her cover comes closer to being blown and I just couldn’t wait to find out what happened next. I have to admit that I was a little disappointed at the ending. I won’t ruin it but let’s just say that she doesn’t really get what she deserves…

Coach Trip: Road to Zante, Channel 4

This is a bit of a guilty pleasure. I watched this last year with my sister when she was living with me but she’s moved out now so this year I forced Ollie to watch it with me – he loves it! If you’re not familiar with Coach Trip, a bunch of people, usually in pairs, board a coach to take a trip around Europe together with Brendan as their guide. Couples get voted off throughout the series and replaced my new couples. Whoever makes it to the final destination, in this series it’s Zante, all vote for their winner who win a luxury holiday in Zante. It’s really good light hearted telly to catch up on if you’ve had a long day. It doesn’t require much concentration and it never fails to make us laugh with the outrageous activities they partake in along the way. Brendan is hilarious as a tour guide as well and just takes the mick out of everyone! I don’t think this year’s group are as likeable as last years but it’s still great TV.
