My Make-Up Bag Essentials

My make up

Originally, this post was going to be titled ‘What’s in my make-up bag?’ and then I took a moment to actually look inside it. Now I imagine, or rather I’m hoping, there are quite a lot of girls who can relate here! About 70% of my make-up bag is full of old make-up that I never use anymore and that I have been too lazy to throw out. I wasn’t going to waste my time or your time by running you through everything that’s in there because let’s be honest, we don’t care.

However, I do want to take you through my make-up bag essentials. These are the products that I use regularly whether it’s on an everyday basis or for when I’m getting dolled up for a night out.

No7 cream from boots

Before I do anything, I always start my make-up routine by applying a generous amount of this No7 Essential Moisture Day Cream. It keeps my dry skin in good condition and isn’t really rich so you don’t have to wait for it to dry before you put your foundation on.

An assortment of eye make up

Next, I use my Revlon Colour Stay natural eye shadow palette followed by Max Factor Max High Volume Definition Black Mascara to create stand-out eyes and lashes. I’ve been using Max Factor Mascara for nearly 10 years now and I wouldn’t switch brands. It’s affordable but also high quality mascara creating long lashes without the panda eyes.

Both of my foundations

Once my eye make-up is in place, I move on to sorting out my skin. I’ve never had good skin so I need a good quality foundation to cover up all the flaws. Chanel Perfection Lumiere Velvet foundation is the only product in my make-up bag that is expensive. However, I don’t mind spending a little more on foundation because I really do think it does a much better job than some of the cheaper options plus, it lasts for months. I only need to buy this foundation once a year. It gives really good coverage so you only need a little to cover your whole face.

I then use a light coating of my Max Factor Crème Puff Pressed Powder over the foundation to give a nice shine free finish to my skin. So I don’t lose the colour from my face, I brush my cheeks with Max Factor Crème Puff Pressed Face powder.

Night out

When I go on a night out, I follow my usual make-up routine but will use some of the darker colours from my eye shadow palette to create an after dark look and will add Max Factor Colour Perfection charcoal grey eye liner to allow my eyes to really stand out. I then add some colour to my lips using Maybelline 24 hour Super Stay lip colour. Girls, if you haven’t tried this, go and buy some now! Honestly, it’s an absolute god send. It truly stays on all night giving you a perfect pout that won’t come off (it really doesn’t come off. I have to stand for a good 5 minutes with a make-up wipe, rubbing my lips before I go to bed!).

My final make-up bag essential has got to be a decent set of brushes. I have a lovely set of No7 brushes that I got in the Boots January sale at the beginning of the year. They are great quality, really soft, and give amazing coverage.
